Star wars is quite a popular series as
you probaly already know. Star wars Galastic Battlegrounds is just another one of LucasArts many SW games. It is highly strategic
meaning that you have 4 different resources to mine and spend carefully and over 50 different units which all have their own
unique abilities as well as strengths and weaknesses. For example, a fully upgraded mech is extremely powerful and could take
on an army of repeader troopers and bounty hunters. However, it couldn't take on a single jedi. Yet, the army of bounty hunters
could kill 5 armies of jedis. The game not only involves ground units but also forces you to manage air units and water units.
There are very few water units and the sea isn't very essential to the game by any means. But one dissition that you always
have to decide is whether you want to spend the resources to build an upgrade fighters and bombers along with upgrading them,
or build Anti Air units at the risk of them dying leaving your entire army vunerable to air attacks. It's a very strategic
game, that's for sure.
Why Star Wars Galastic Battlegrounds? It's such a old low
class game isn't it?
Some people may be wondering that question. Yes, the game is old, it's graphics
SUCK, and the fact that when moving troops they will not react to being shot unless you tell them to stop is pretty lame.
One reason that SWGB is a good game however is because gaming is starting to get pretty advanced and unfortunatly some
people, including myself, still have a STUPID 56k modem. Yes, living at the country does have it's disadvantages. The thing
with SWGB is that even 56k modems can play without hardly ever lagging out. Infact, I have never lost connection to a game.
Most games end because A. The lagg does get to slow and everybody quits, B. The game goes out of sync, C. The game just closes
down, D. Your internet turns off, or E. The power goes out. So 56kers don't have to worry about lagging out. Better yet, people
with low DSL or even a 56k can still host a server. However, usually the game is to laggy if you host anymore then 8 people.
Lagg often depends on how much action is happening on the map and who is hosting. Another reason the SWGB is such a great
game is that the strategy is amazing as mentioned above. Thirdly, the scenario editor, which has already been mentioned as
well is simple Awsome, and lastly the multiplayer is still quite populated. On gamespy there is an average of 10 people in
the SWGB room. On the other hand, MSN Gaming Zone has on average 150 people playing! So it's a fairly popular game still.
The game it's self is pretty kewl. Fighting with Jedis, troopers, droids, AA, artilery, turrets, tanks, enorous mechs, ships,
air craft's and MORE is pretty damn fun. The game truely is over flowing with strategy.
More about what the clan does on SWGB
There are about 8 different game types in SWGB. The two most commonly played are
Random Map and Death Match. Both game types include mining four different resources and building the right army to counter
attack anything the enemy throws at you. Well, unfortunatly the game doesn't get as exsiting as it should when playing with
resources. And it can get extremely stressful. The best players pretty much use the exact same tatics every time...and it
gets to be a little repedative. That is why this clan is more focused on Human Made Scenarios. The main Clan Scenario is World
Blood aka WB. Basically, you play on a map of the world with infinate resources and advance through techs by getting kills.
It's an old scenario but still the BEST. Fort Blood is the second scenario this clan is focused on. You get infinate resources
and gain tons of different upgrades through kills. However, you get a single base, and no workers. So you must guard it well.
If you want to arrange a training session to improve your World Blood skills Hiding Joe or Flight will gladly assist you for
we are the WB MASTERS. Hiding joe's best winning streak in WB is currently 16 games straight. (And that was 3 vs Joe every
game) So trust me, they're the best. Don't worry if you are good at Random Map or something. We'll still let you join.
